Kim Reilly, a 6th generation Cape Codder, learned to swim about the same
time she learned to walk. An outdoor enthusiast and adventure traveler,
Kim has always been comfortable in the ocean. She has enjoyed Scuba diving,
water skiing, wind surfing, kayaking, swimming, surfing and best of all
Stand Up Paddling!
Kim first encountered the sport on a vacation in Hanalei Bay on the Hawaiian isle of Kauai in 1995. It was still relatively new there and unheard of here on the east coast. In the summer of 2010, she found a SUP board on craigslist and was off paddling every chance she got. Interest quickly spread and she was constantly asked what this sport was called, where could one learn it, and rent one. She immediately bought 2 more boards and things went from there.
"What I love about SUP is that I can do so many things on my board depending on what I want to get out of my time on the water...... a relaxing, sightseeing paddle, an intense 6 mile race, a yoga session, a challenging endurance event and the training it requires or dropping in on some waves! "
" Plus, I love to travel and I love the ocean and this way I can have an active vacation and see so much I couldn't see if I stayed on land! In my relatively short time SUPing I have paddled with dolphins, whales, many fish, and the occasional small shark. Stand UP Paddling is like being on top of an aquarium and getting to see everything below you, unlike rowing or kayaking. Plus it's a full body work out!"
In addition to owning Cape Cod Paddle Surf, Kim has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years and a yoga teacher for 5. She also dabbles in Voice Over work, and has led ski and bike tours in Europe, British Columbia and the States.
After graduating from the University of Vermont, Kim studied in Ireland, taught English in Spain, worked as a photographer in Colorado, was employed at a fishing lodge in Alaska and traveled extensively to Europe, South and Central America, Thailand, Fiji and New Zealand.
